Extend Your Outdoor Season

Summer is far from over! August's clear weather and warm days mean you still have plenty of time to enjoy your outdoor living space with family and friends.

Bright annuals and late-blooming perennials deliver vibrant pops of color to garden beds. Seasonal plants also offer an interesting contrast to the texture of stone and textiles.

August is an ideal time to add hardscapes like patios, seat walls and outdoor fireplaces. With a wide variety of durable pavers and natural stone materials to choose from, adding features like these immediately lifts the space and improves how you use your landscape.

Start your upgrades today to get the most from your landscape before winter arrives. We're a phone call away to help bring your outdoor living vision to life.

Walk This Way to Style

A proper pathway is never simply a route from points A to B. The right walkway connects the home's aesthetic with the natural landscape.

From neat, geometric pavers set in velvety turf to soft gravel paths framed by stone borders, every dimension and curve is uniquely yours and tailored to match the scale of the space.

Crushed bluestone has an inviting, cottage-style appeal. Broad flagstone slabs create an elegant transition from the driveway to backyard living spaces. Evenly spaced geometric pavers add a sense of whimsy.

Create your own custom pathway this season. Bertog's designs turn routine strolls into memorable journeys through your landscape. The options are endless!

Keepin' It Green Live Rewind

Bob Bertog joined host Lou Manfredini for WGN Radio's "Keepin' It Green" broadcast, live at Lurvey Home & Garden in Des Plaines last month. Thank you to everyone who stopped by or tuned in!

On air, Bob shared seasonal advice and expert landscaping tips with listeners across Chicagoland. Team Bertog connected with guests, answered plant questions and offered quick solutions for problem areas.

Visitors enjoyed outdoor living inspiration, family activities, in-store discounts, raffle prizes and breakfast from a food truck.

Special thanks to event sponsors Toro, Simple Flooring, Techo-Bloc, Lurvey and to WGN Radio for making the event a success!

Missed the broadcast? You can still catch Bob's expert advice on WGN Radio 720 AM. Listen to a rewind of Keepin' It Green here.

You can also catch Bob when he joins WGN Radio's John Williams to take listener calls on air each Wednesday at about 1:10 p.m. Call in with your questions. They may be answered during the broadcast!

Water, Water, Water

Bob Bertog's mantra is "water, water, water" and there's good reason for it — especially in August.

Late summer heat and drier weather put extreme stress on trees and shrubs, leading to early leaf loss and root damage. Consistent, late-summer hydration gives your landscape the strength it needs to prepare for winter. Deep soaking encourages roots to push further into the soil before cold weather sets in. Proper watering protects your investment from summer stress so it returns strong and healthy next spring.

Healthy roots build resilient landscapes. Get on our schedule now for an on-site maintenance consultation.

From the President's Desk

With Heartfelt Thanks

Your love and support during the hardest days of my family's lives have meant more than words can fully capture. When we lost our daughter Ali and our grandson Hank due to health complications, we were overwhelmed with grief — and just as overwhelmed by the kindness that surrounded us.

Thank you for the cards, calls, meals, flowers and simply for showing up. Thank you for sitting with us in silence when there was nothing to say, and for sharing your own memories of Ali, which have brought us unexpected moments of comfort and even laughter amid the sorrow.

My family and I are learning, slowly, how to carry this loss. Knowing we do not have to carry it alone has made all the difference. Please know how deeply grateful we are for your presence in our lives.

Bob
